For the 2023-2024 Season we will not be abiding by specific covid guidelines due to their not being executive orders which require them at this time.  In the event things change, we will revert to the below guidelines which were used during the 2020-2021 Season.

Wall Knights Wrestling Club COVID Guidelines

Safety Precautions/Liability Precautions

1-All wrestlers/parents must sign a release of liability form prior to the season (Form was created by Wall Parks and Recreation Director-Mike Thompson) this form will be kept on file with the Wall Knights Wrestling Club Administration.  Coaches must also sign a release of liability Covid Form.

2-At all times in the wrestling room, occupants will be expected to practice safe social distancing in wrestling room (When possible and practical during times when wrestlers are not participating in drills or wrestling)

3-Coaches must abide by the NJ Department of Health Guidelines pertaining to COVID and the NJ Governors Executive Orders as outlined in these guidelines.  All activities will be in accordance with the Safety Protocols in the Executive Orders and NJ Dept. of Health Guidelines.

4-A coach will be assigned every night to check temperatures at the door.   Any temperature that is 100 degrees or higher will not be permitted into the facility

5-Parents/Spectators are not be permitted inside of the Pine Grove Theatre during wrestling practice. Parents may no longer attend practices due to Governor Murphy's updated executive order which prohibits spectators when the amount of persons in the room is over 10 persons.   The amount of people necessary including coaches and wrestlers may exceed 10 persons however spectators are no longer permitted.   An exception will be made for parents of wrestlers attending the first practice.

6-Coaches that are not involved in actively coaching should wear face masks (Common sense will dictate).

7-Athletes who are not feeling well and have symptoms of cold, flu, or Covid should not attend practice.   In addition, wrestlers that contract Covid must quarantine for 14 days before returning to wrestling.  Any coach/staff member that becomes aware of a wrestler having symptoms of Covid or is not feeling well shall immediately make arrangements for the wrestler to be taken home by his parents and report the incident to Club Administration.

8-Wrestling is considered a High Risk sport as per Governor Murphy’s COVID Guidelines.   High Risk sports are permitted to resume in inside settings as per Executive Order #187. 

9-We will attempt to create consistent groups in the room with the same wrestlers to keep exposure to a minimum.  This will be for both contact and non-contact drills.   When a Coach is coaching new techniques, wrestlers will be advised to keep distance as they are learning. 

10-A hand sanitizer station will be kept on hand and coaches will ensure all usual hygiene protocols are completed.  

11- Wrestlers are expected to immediately shower after returning home from practice or competition. 

12-The Wrestling room will only be filled to ¼ of maximum occupancy. 

13-For Contact drills wrestlers will be paired with partners who they will remain with as often as possible.  EACH WRESTLER WILL BE ASSIGNED ONE PRACTICE PARTNER PER PRACTICE.  THIS CAN POTENTIALLY CHANGE UPON THE DISCRETION OF A COACH HOWEVER WRESTLERS ARE TO REMAIN WITH THEIR PARTNER IN PRACTICE UNTIL OTHERWISE DIRECTED

14-Wrestlers must bring there own water/Gatorade and must refrain from sharing with others.    The drinks should be kept in a bag and the athlete should mark them with a name to identify their own drinks. 

15-All wrestlers that vacation or leave the state for any other reason must abide by the restrictions regarding quarantine as set forth in the Governors Executive Order.   Please contact the Wall Wrestling Administration if there are any questions as to whether or not a wrestler may immediately wrestle after traveling to a state in which the quarantine restrictions apply. 

 16-Any wrestler that does not attend school on a practice day due to illness cannot attend practice on that day.  Any wrestler that is not permitted in school due to any reasons related to quarantine shall not attend wrestling practice or matches.

17-Any wrestler who has direct contact with a known person who has contracted Covid shall not attend practice for 14 days


18-Wrestlers must refrain from competing with wrestlers from out of state or traveling to other states to compete as per Governor Murphy's recent executive order

19-We will have a new procedure for the end of practice in which parents shall wait at the parking lot (Only exception is parents who are attending their wrestlers first practice).   We will assign a coach to walk the wrestlers out to the parking lot as a group to turn over to the parents.
